1010 User Notes.
One question you may have is,"How do I create a new page?" From the help Swiki, here it is:
Go to the page from which you want a link to your new page. Edit that page. In the text put * My New Page Name * . When you save the page, a create link shows up next to My New Page. Click on create and the new page is created. In this way, you haven't just created a page, you've also created a link to it so others can find it.
The Help Guide (to the left, last button) will provide a quick primer on how to use this site.

Power outage last night shut down the microscope. It should be back up by the end of the day.

The pile driving will stop tomorrow, Febraury 23, probably by noon, and will not resume until Tuesday of next week. They have to stop so Verizon can relocate the phone line. They then have to pull out the old wiring banks.

The TEM 1010 service is complete. It took longer than anticipated. New FSE setting is now 16. Hopefully the exposure setting will now remain stable. Guess we will find out in a couple of months whether this 4 day service has actually fixed the problem.
thanks again for your patience.

The grating replica, located in pos.2 (specimen holder) was damaged beyond use. This is the second grating replica that has been damaged, in only a few months. I have replaced with a new replica grating. Please DO NOT REMOVE this grid from pos.2. Your samples are loaded into pos.1 only. No exceptions. Thank you for your cooperation.

The TEM 1010 FSE is working again. This is a temporary fix. I have set the FSE in all the Pfiles to 18 and noted this new setting on the noteboard in the tem room. This FSE setting will give the correct density to your em negatives. Service is scheduled for next week(mon/tues/wed) to permanently address ths continuing problem and other cmputer related problems.
I will post again if the situation changes. please read the notes for 1-17-05 as the pile driving situation remains the same.

The TEM 1010 is currently working just fine. During pile driving, images are iffy above 20kX. However, it is possible to take images between the bad vibration cycles. You need @3 seconds for screen to lift and then 2.5 seconds for exposure. We were quite successful last week. It just means you need patience; wait till the vinbration are at there "lowest" cycle. If you are fully trained, you can, of course, use the tem1010 on weekends and evenings. Before you do, please see me for instructions on conditioning the HV at 100KV.

The 1010 currently has a problem with the exposure control. Useable, but dark, negatives can be made, but full exposure control will not return until we have a service call later this week.
