Tecnai User Notes
One question you may have is,"How do I create a new page?" From the help Swiki, here it is:
Go to the page from which you want a link to your new page. Edit that page. In the text put * My New Page Name * . When you save the page, a create link shows up next to My New Page. Click on create and the new page is created. In this way, you haven't just created a page, you've also created a link to it so others can find it.
The Help Guide (to the left,last button) will provide a quick primer on how to use this site.

A new FEG tip has been installed in the Tecnai. Do not use above 3800 extraction voltage until after March 15. Better, use at 3400 extraction voltage until that date, unless absolutely essential. Use above 3800 will damage the tip, and is not covered under the service contract. New tips are $15,000.

The Tecnai will be getting a new FEG next week (Feb 28-March 4). It will be out of service nearly the whole week, if nothing goes wrong.
12-07-04.
Note that when inserting the specimen holder, the red light on the Compu stage sometimes gives an erroneous reading (goes off before the air lock is fully pumped). Always monitor the vacuum with the vacuum over view panel. Insert the holder only when the timer in vacuum over view reads zero.
